Arsenal star Matteo Guendouzi has finally left the club to join French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille in a permanent transfer. The French midfielder spent last season on loan at the Ligue 1 club and he is now joining them permanently ahead of next season.
Arsenal released an official statement on their website to announce the departure of Matteo Guendouzi from the club.
“Midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has joined Olympique Marseille in a permanent transfer,” the club confirmed.
“As part of the agreement with Marseille, Matteo has made his move permanent after spending 2021/22 on loan with the Ligue 1 club, during which time he became an integral part of their side, making 56 appearances in all competitions during the campaign. The 23-year-old previously spent the 2020/21 season on loan in the German Bundesliga with Hertha Berlin, where he made 24 appearances.
“Matteo started his career at Paris Saint-Germain’s academy before joining Lorient in 2014 and regularly represented his country at youth level from under-18s through to the under-21s. He joined us from Lorient in summer 2018, making 82 appearances across two seasons.
“Everyone at Arsenal thanks Matteo for his contribution during his time with us and wish him all the best in this next chapter of his career.”
