Following the finding of a lady’s body at a KwaZulu-Natal dump site after she was kidnapped at her boyfriend’s house, a man and a woman are now in arrest.
When Akhona Mkhize, 23, went to see her boyfriend last week in Inanda, she was kidnapped. At the moment, he wasn’t at home. According to police, a vehicle that was ferrying Mkhize away was seen with the man’s ex-girlfriend inside.
Police detained a 34-year-old woman on Wednesday.
The ex-girlfriend of the victim’s boyfriend was the lady who had been arrested, according to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala.
Mkhize’s body was discovered in Verulam in a trash after she guided police there.
Later, the 34-year-old lady revealed that she had planned the kidnapping with a man’s help. The team’s investigation brought them to Buffelsdraai in Verulam, where they discovered Akhona’s body with strangulation signs.
A 24-year-old male was later detained by police in Ixopo.
Gwala continued, “Avoca Hills seized the vehicle that was used in the commission of the offense for further investigation.”
On Friday, the two suspected offenders showed up at the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court. At their subsequent court appearance, they will submit a bail application while still in detention.
