3 Medical Problems That Affect A Man’s Sex Life

Most people experience health issues that affect their intimacy health at certain points in their lives.

These problems can occur for different reasons, such as underlying medical conditions, medications, mental health issues, or relationship problems.

According to EveryDayHealth, medical problems that affect the sexual life of a man are;

1. Restless Leg Syndrome

A recent study observed that men with frequent restless leg syndrome were 78% more likely to have erectile dysfunction than those without it.

Researchers suspect it may be linked to the brain chemical dopamine, which is normally low in both conditions. In addition to low dopamine, poor sleep can cause depression and low male hormones. Most of the lifestyle choices suggested for restless legs, such as exercise, stopping smoking, and limiting the use of alcohol, may also boost your intimate life.

2. Sleep Apnea

Recent research noticed that men with more serious erectile dysfunction have a greater risk for sleep apnea, a condition known for deafening snoring and daytime sleepiness.

These two conditions may be related because abnormal periods of breathing when you have sleep apnea increase the odds of high blood pressure, heart disease and chronic fatigue. Treating sleep apnea with breathing support and medications may also enhance erectile dysfunction.

3. Gum disease

Some studies indicate a high link between chronic gum disease and erectile dysfunction. But it may just be that men with poor dental health don’t take good care of themselves generally.

In a small study, more than eighty per cent of men with serious erectile dysfunction also had chronic gum disease. More research however is needed to tell what the exact relationship is, but taking good care of your teeth and gums is always a good idea.
