4 Medical Tests You Should Do With Your Partner Before Deciding To Marry Each Other

Compatibility is one factor that must be considered before venturing into marriage as a young man or woman. Especially when it has to do with health. Therefore it is very important that romantic partners should be properly informed of their partners medical and health history before saying I do. And to achieve this, you must undergo the following test before agreeing to marry each other to avoid regrets in the future.

 

1. Genotype.

This refers to the genetic makeup of an organism; or an organism’s complete set of genes. One thing about genotype is that it is hereditary. There are over 3 types of genotype, we have a AA, AS, and SS. Medically speaking, it is not advisable for a person with an S genotype to marry a person with the same genotype to avoid bearing children with SS(sickle cell) which is incurable.

 

2. STDs and HIV.

STDs or HIV are deadly diseases which are in most cases incurable. So to avoid being infected by your partner it is important that you both are tested and the case the result turns out negative, then you can now go ahead with the marriage. If not, you should call of the marriage or get treated before continuing with the marriage.

 

3. Fertility test.

This as important as others, here the reproductive systems of both parties are tested to know if they are fit to make a baby.

4. Blood group.

A blood group is a classification of blood, based on the presence and absence of antibodies and inherited antigenic substances on the surface of red blood cells. These antigens may be proteins, carbohydrates, glycoproteins, or glycolipids.

 

There are 4 main blood groups (types of blood) – A, B, AB and O. Your blood group is determined by the genes you inherit from your parents. Each group can be either RhD positive or RhD negative. You should there have good knowledge of your blood group as this help you when choosing a partner. For instance, a Rhesus-negative woman is advised not to marry a Rhesus-positive man as she may experience complications during pregnancy.
