Delta State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, has replied to a social media user who raised eyebrows over a female officer using an expensive wristwatch and phone.
It all started on Friday, when ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force spokesperson took to his official X to share a picture of secretary to the Inspector General of Police, IGP, DSP David Victoria, holding a Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 and an expensive watch around her wrist.
Posting her picture, Adejobi wrote: “We have beautiful and intelligent ones in the force. This is DSP David Victoria, secretary to the IGP. Happy weekend. Ire o.”
Quoting Adejobi post, an X user @Akintomide wrote: “A civil servant (DSP) with a phone worth close to a million. lol. Ire o.”
Taking to his comments section, the Delta State Police PRO responded, “Characters dey Twitter sha. I really hope this is not the way an average Nigerian thinks.”
Another user @CounsellorSunny answered: “This is the same way the average police people think. I’m a policeman’s son but you guys do the most.
“You feel youths are too young to own expensive phones and drive Benz. You search our phones as if it is a crime to be well to do. Make una swallow same pills were una Dey dish out.”
DSP Bright replied: “You know yourself that if you work and earn a good salary and drive Benz, no problem, but when you don’t have any legal source of living and you are driving a benz, it’s definitely an issue.”
